Traffic control at an intersection near Tahoma Junior High School has been changed in an attempt to improve traffic safety.

King County road officials said 244th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 216th Street is now an all-ways stop instead of the previous two-way stop. Road engineers decided that converting it was necessary because of several collisions at the intersection over the past four years, according to officials.

Along with the additional stop signs, an overhead flashing light was upgraded and rumble strips were added to alert motorists approaching the intersection.
