Technical rescue teams from several fire departments combined their efforts May 31 to rescue a woman who had fallen and been injured along a remote road along the Green River.

Firefighters from King County Fire District 47 were first dispatched at 7:47 p.m. to the 36000 block of Southeast Hudson Road.

The initial report was that a woman had fallen down a 60 foot embankment, and due to her injuries and the steepness of the hill, could not get back to the top.

Additional firefighters from the technical rescue teams of the Maple Valley Fire Department, the Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority, and the Valley Regional Fire Authority were requested to assist in the incident.

King County Medic One and the King County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the call.

The firefighters were able to bring the patient up the hillside, which was near vertical in many areas. High angle rope rescue systems were utilized due to the steep angle.

After being evaluated by King County paramedics, the patient was transported to a local hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
