A $49,000 grant is being provided to each Kent School District school participating in an innovative math program created by the MIND Research Institute.
There are 11 elementary schools and one academy in the district that are participating.
The math program uses pictures, animations, and games to help students learn and master math concepts including algebra.
“This is an exciting opportunity to continue providing powerful and effective education tools to help each and every one of our kids meet high standards,” Superintendent Lee Vargas said.
The grant provides student licenses for the ST Math: K-5 for students in kindergarten through fifth grade or ST Math: Secondary Intervention at the middle school level.
There is also training for teachers and administrators on results-oriented program implementation.
The program will start in schools next year.
