Police blotter for Maple Valley and Covington for the week of March 7

COVINGTON

March 6

  • THE CABLE GUY: 25800 block of 201st Avenue Southeast. A man claimed to work for Comcast but the cable company has no record of him as an employee.
  • FORGERY: 17200 block of Southeast 272nd Street. Someone managed to obtain a woman’s checking account number and used it to produce counterfeit checks. The forger wrote two checks for $70 and $75 at Fred Meyer.

March 5

  • DRUNK DRIVER: 16800 block of Southeast 272nd Street. A driver was pulled over in the Fred Meyer parking lot for improper lane driver and speeding. The motorist was then arrested for driving under the influence and the vehicle was impounded.
  • THEFT: 15800 block of Southeast 258th Street. A woman reported jewelry missing from her house and suspects it may have occurred over Valentine’s Day weekend while she and her husband were out of town. Their son hosted a party at the home. There was no suspect information and the victim was unsure if she would be willing to prosecute.

March 4

  • AGGRESSIVE DOG: 26200 block of 195th Place Southeast. An officer went to a home after someone called 911 then hung up. When the officer arrived a small child answered the door. Moments later a large dog described as a pit bull suddenly ran out the front door, growling and jumping at the officer, who used his taser to defend himself.

Feb. 28

  • MOTHERLODE: 17400 block of Southeast 270th Place. A woman was caught shoplifting at Walmart. She had stolen $735.50 worth of items by piling them into a shopping cart and leaving without paying. She was arrested and booked into the King County Jail on charges of larceny.
  • SUSPICIOUS: 21900 block of Southeast 255th Place. A man found seven nails in the tire of his Cadillac.

 

MAPLE VALLEY

March 5

  • FOUND: 23600 block of Southeast 263rd Street. While walking on the trail, the reporting party found a back pack full of tools as well as a machete near the Lake Wilderness Trail. The items were entered into evidence at the King County Sheriff’s Precinct.

Feb. 28

  • LEAVE ONE, TAKE ONE: 25300 block of 242nd Place Southeast. After prowling a car the suspect assaulted the owner then dumped a stolen car nearby and stole a van.
  • VANDALISM: 26700 block of Southeast 223rd Place Southeast. Someone poured Gorilla Glue all over a vehicle parked on the shoulder of a street in Cherokee Bay.

Feb. 25

  • SHOPLIFTER BEGONE: 26900 block of state Route 169. A woman was trespassed from every Safeway grocery store in the region after she was gone shoplifting.
