All three of the 5th District’s state legislators have been endorsed by a national business group in their re-election campaigns.

The National Federation of Independent Business Washington SAFE Trust, the political-action committee of NFIB/Washington, announced it supports Sen. Cheryl Pflug and Reps. Jay Rodne (Position 1) and Glenn Anderson (Position 2. Each is a Republican.

NFIB officials said the endorsements are based on the lawmakers’ support or opposition to 15 bills in the 2007 and 2008 sessions of the Legislature that were important to small business. The bills can be viewed at http://www.nfib.com/page/homeWA.html.

Legislators with at least an 85-percent pro-small-business voting record are automatically endorsed by NFIB.

The 5th District includes all or parts of Maple Valley and Covington.

Chief takes questions about fire district levy

Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety’s chief is taking voters’ questions about the fire district’s levy facing voters in the primary election next month.

Chief Tim Lemon can be reached at (425) 432-0200 for information about the levy, which is a primary source of funds for the district’s budget.

The ballot measure proposes a property tax rate of $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed valuation. The levy would be in place for six years.
