Company renting bio-diesel-electric hybrid trucks

International Leasing Co. Inc., which has ties to the south King County area, plans to start offering a B20-approved bio-diesel-electric hybrid 24-foot truck for rentals starting in May.

The truck will be a 2008 Freightliner M2e, equipped with a van body and liftgate. International said it would be one of the first truck rental companies in the U.S. with such vehicles

“From industry reports, we feel that our customers should see a 30 percent or better fuel mileage increase, get a cleaner running engine, be able to run B-20 bio-diesel and get to do their part for the environment,” said Todd Daniels, fleet manager.

International Leasing has locations in Kent and Seattle. The firm’s general manager, Jeff Zylstra, lives in Maple Valley.
