Barn fire kills seven horses|Puget Sound Fire

The fire was reported at 7:39 a.m. this morning, Nov. 12.

A barn fire in the 12900 block of Southeast 203 Place resulted in the death of seven horses this morning.

The fire was first reported at 7:39 a.m., and firefighters could see a smoke column from a half mile away.

When they got on scene, the firefighters from the Puget Sound and Renton RFAs found the 40 by 40 barn fully engulfed in flames.

Because of the danger of collapse, firefighters worked “defensively,” meaning from the outside and not going into the heavily damaged structure. They also worked to protect another barn, which was approximately fifty feet away.

The property owner informed firefighters that there were no injuries but that the seven horses boarded in the barn had not been able to get out.

A Puget Sound Fire Investigator is working with the property owner to determine the cause of the fire.
