Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive: Fill a bag and feed a family May 11 for the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Leave non-perishable food items at your mailbox, Saturday, May 11, and your letter carrier will do the rest. Goods collected from the Maple Valley and Ravensdale Post Offices will benefit Maple Valley Food Bank and Emergency Services. Items in high need are canned fruit, pancake mix, canned meats and stews.

Mamma Mia: Kentlake High School presents several performances of the musical “Mamma Mia!” Set on a colorful Greek island, the plot serves as a background for a wealth of ABBA songs. Book sale: Maple Valley Library Guild Spring Book Sale runs 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 16, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 17, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 18 at the Maple Valley Library, 21844 SE 248th St. Purchase used books, DVDs and CDs at bargain prices. Proceeds support library programs and events such as story time, summer reading, literacy and holiday activities for children, after hours game night, outreach programs for teens, performances and discussion groups for adults and more. Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra: This community based non-profit youth music organization presents “Sunday Afternoon by the Sea” at 2 p.m. May 19 at the Tahoma High School Performing Arts Center, 23499 SE Tahoma Way, Maple Valley. Hear music that was inspired by the sea and will take your mind to the watery world of the ancient mariners. Also performing in this concert is MVYSO’s Jam Club. In another show, the orchestra will collaborate with U253 (a U2 Tribute band) for an evening of great music at 7 p.m. May 31 at the Tahoma High School Performing Arts Center. Maple Valley Days: The annual event returns June 7-9 at Lake Wilderness Park, 22500 SE 248th St., Maple Valley.
