Maple Valley Library Guild thanks community

The Maple Valley Library Guild issues a huge thank you for the success of our recent used book sale, held at the Maple Valley Library. The community certainly stepped up in spite of the numerous obstacles we faced. Heavy construction traffic, no water facilities for the first day of the sale and some pretty rainy weather.

Guild volunteers helping with the 100 boxes of books were: Duane and Linda DuVal, Joe DeFrisco, Laura Pollack, Bobbi Sayers, Carole Johnston, Laura Gindroz, Linda Johnson, Darlene Stump, Janis and Gary Milne, Sue Troutner, Cheryl Peerenboom, Phyllis Cavanaugh, Diana DeFrisco and Ed Boogaerts. These guild members started working with the set up on Tuesday, Nov. 2 and followed through until clean up on Sunday, Nov. 7.

Another amazing group of “worker bees” were volunteer students from Tahoma High School: Tim Lamb, Aubri Wolferts, Kelsey Pizer, Emily Berlisen, Nile Somab, Jennifer Taylor, Cassidy Butler, Garrett Love, Justyne Snyder, Jessica Schapira, Rachael Pak, Erin O’Hara, Lily Loescher Katie Housman and Mallorie Mortensen. We would not have been able to finish out the days without these students. A message relayed to principal Terry Duty is these students are awesome and certainly a credit to THS.

Our guild also has special thanks to the Maple Valley Library staff who are always there to lend a helping hand and to support our endeavors. Members of our business community who graciously provided advertisement for our sale. Motorplex and Jim Flynn for the announcements on the reader boards along the highway. Thank you to THS and Soos Creek Elementary for the reader board notices as well. Also thanks to our new Maple Valley City Clerk Shaunna Lee-Rice for placing the announcement on the Maple Valley website.

The purpose of the guild is to help fund library programs for our community year around. We are successful due to the residents of Maple Valley who not only buy our books, but donate “slightly read” books to us year around.

Thank you Maple Valley community and look for us again in the spring!
