Maple Valley councilman desputes candidates claims

I want to comment on a candidate’s Web site information and help set the record straight. Glenn Smith’s campaign website (www.reelectglenntsmith.com) contains a lot of self promoting misinformation with some of the worst regarding the Donut Hole.

He wants us to believe he is the only reason the city is making progress with negotiations. This is untrue. The progress is the result of a true team effort. Requests Glenn has made were at the direction of the City Council as Council appointed Suburban Cities Association (SCA) representative. Councilman Layne Barnes is also our representative on the SCA and has been equally effective. The entire City Council (including Mayor Laure Iddings and Councilmembers Victoria Laise-Jonas, David Pilgrim, Linda Johnson, Layne Barnes and myself) and several key City Staff Members have worked long and hard during the past two years on the Donut Hole. Mr. Smith should focus on facts. His dubious election year claims do not best serve the community.
