Don’t fall for ‘Save Black Diamond’ nonsense | Letters to the Editor

As we see it the city of Black Diamond suffered with poor leadership under the former mayor who was supported by “Save Black Diamond” that’s controlled by people from Bellevue and Issaquah.

As we see it the city of Black Diamond suffered with poor leadership under the former mayor who was supported by “Save Black Diamond” that’s controlled by people from Bellevue and Issaquah.

It cost our citizens close to$200,000 for the missteps that were taken by their man. That organization hoodwinked the voters into thinking that their candidates could stop population growth, Black Diamond’s Comprehensive Plan, and the master plan development.

Their new candidates for council are of the same belief. Some of their members are writing that “Save Black Diamond” candidates can curtail the growth by actions they would take if elected. We would like the specifics of such actions, or is this just some smoke and mirrors promises like the last election.

It’s a falsehood to believe that growth can be curtailed. Just look around us at the city’s of Covington and Maple Valley and the growth they are experiencing. Growth is happening now and the incumbent council members Craig Goodwin and Ron Taylor are aware of the pitfalls and the need to monitor that growth in the city. These men are independent thinkers and do not take marching orders from some outside organization. They have the experience to continue in their positions as leaders who care about the city making sure that the growth is accomplished in a controlled and legal manner. These leaders are working with the mayor and city administration in a productive way, as a team, concerned for the health of the city of Black Diamond.

Experience does matter and the incumbents have that plus wisdom. We ask that you re-elect all of our incumbents and do not fall for the nonsense that the “Save Black Diamond” organization is pushing.
