Covington needs sustainable plan | Letter to the editor

As a longtime citizen and taxpayer in Covington I was dismayed to find out the city wanted to add another position in the parks department. Our current parks director makes over $125,000 in wages and benefits. It would seem he could find the time to do the parks planning since we have such a small number of parks as he noted in his newspaper article. The current parks operation budget, including the aquatic center, is even greater than the money spent on the streets. Dependence on state or federal grants shows we are not headed in the right direction. We need to change to a more sustainable plan for the future. I am for a financially sound Covington.
