Mark Lanza understands that our children are the most precious parts of our lives. During his tenure on the Covington City Council he has always based his decisions on what is best for our children. Their safety and well being has always been the driving force behind the direction he has taken as a City Council member.

During his first term on the Council, while visiting area elementary schools, he saw a need for safer and newer playground equipment. Knowing something needed to be done he was responsible for acquiring $5,000 for each elementary school within Covington’s city limits to apply towards playground equipment. Thanks to Mark and other members of our community, our children now have modern and safer equipment to play on while at school.

Mark also is concerned with the safety of our children. Very concerned with the walking routes our children need to walk to get to school, he was instrumental in acquiring the flashing school zone lights installed at Crestwood and Cedar Valley Elementary Schools prior to this school year. These two schools are primarily walking schools with little bus service. He also plans, by the end of his next term, to have these lights installed at each of the schools located within the city’s boundaries. Thanks to Mark, our children are safer as they walk to and from school.

Mark also has insisted that all new development within the city require sidewalks and a planting strip that separates them for traffic. His opponent’s top priority is, “… is No. 1, the city stop putting limitations on building and design that comes in from developers.” This would most likely result in sidewalks not being built at all. In many developments built in the city prior to them being required, sidewalks are non-existent.

I urge you to vote for Mark. A vote for Mark Lanza is a vote for our children.
