Maple Valley Business of the Year is announced by Chamber of Commerce

The Board of Directors of the Greater Maple Valley-Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce announced the 2009 Business of the Year award went to John L. Scott, Maple Valley Office and broker/owners Kim and Jack Emmons.

The honor extends to the entire team of real estate agents and staff who demonstrated commitment to the Maple Valley community.

The number of nominations received by the selection committee made it apparent the Emmons were recognized throughout the chamber membership as leaders in the business community. Other businesses receiving multiple nominations were Johnson’s Home and Garden, Claffey’s Painting and Flynn Development.

The Emmons are among the driving forces behind Maple Valley Days and the newly formed Maple Valley Farmers Market. For the past five years, they have dedicated their free time throughout the month of October for Breast Cancer Awareness. Last October they peddled $5,900 worth of hotdogs and helped raise $21,000 in donations at the Four Corners Safeway. The business is also a major sponsor of the annual Opening Day “Hooked On Fishing” Derby on Lake Wilderness.

Other organizations benefiting from their gifts of time and donations are the Maple Valley Food Bank, Vine Maple Place, the Maple Valley Community Center, Maple Valley Fire Department and the Tahoma School District.
